About the event
The focus of our visit will be on the swans, geese and wildfowl that overwinter on the site – there can be 30,000+ birds on the reserve at this time of year.
The first viewpoints to be visited will be the Estuary Tower and Zeiss Hides to coincide with the high tide at 10am to maximise views of these birds. We will then visit the other hides on the reserve looking for wildfowl, waders other winter visitors (e.g. Redwing, Fieldfare, Siskin, Redpoll) and any raptors (e.g. Marsh Harrier, Peregrine) that may be hunting across the reserve.
Walking around the reserve is on well-maintained pathways and most of the time will be spent in hides. The Estuary Tower has steps but there is a lift. There are steps up into the Zeiss hide.
