About the event
Meet at Woodbines, Checkley HR1 4ND. GR597385. Parking for 4 cars at Woodbines, and extra parking in forest layby on Checkley Common approx 200m east of Woodbines.
Devereux Park is one mile away, and there will be a shuttle service there.
The walk is morning only, approx 2–2.5 hours. Some steep slopes. Classic oak woodland with a good variety of birds and 3 pools. Possibility of hearing Goshawk.
Afternoon option: walk to Joan’s Hill Plantlife nature reserve where we might see green-winged orchids.
Members should bring a packed lunch with them if they wish to stay for the afternoon walk.
