About the event
Canon Frome Court is a working organic farm providing a good variety of habitat. From the car park at the back of the house, where we can enjoy watching the Swifts, Martins and Swallows, we will head to the lake in front of the house, and walk around the lake looking for warblers and waterfowl. From there we leave the property and head to ‘The Homend’ walking through the park, woodland and field towards Stretton Grandison church. Above the church we can take in the view of Woolhope Dome before heading across more farmland and woodland edge where we may find good numbers of Song Thrush, Mistle Thrush, Whitethroat and Yellowhammers.
Heading back towards Canon Frome Court, we’ll stop for tea & coffee. We’ll then stroll up along arable fields to the orchard and back down the old avenue, returning to our cars. One or two hills, but mostly level walking. Estimated time 3-4 hours.
Directions: Meet at Canon Frome Court car park behind the main house HR8 2TD. (Please note that GPS often misguides people to the back lane to Mill Cottage. Go to the main gates next to the kennels.)
